Tauranga and Mt Maunganui - North Island
I love the seaside holiday feel about this area. Tauranga and Mt Maunganui are right next to each other on the coast of the Bay of Plenty. I spent a few days at one of the hostels next to the beach, while I was looking for fruit picking work in the area and exploring the town. For views stretching along the coast, hike up "The Mount". (It's hard not to miss). At low tide you can walk out to Moturiki Island just off the shore of Mt Maunganui's Beach and watch the water shooting out of the blowholes. Finally, the hostel hired out surfboards for free! So I spent an hour or two testing out the skills I had learned in Raglan, which wasn't much but it was still simple fun!
